Tahiti Nui International is excited to announce our newest event, the “OC POLYFEST”, to be held on March 5th, 6th and 7th, 2021 at the Orange County Fairgrounds, Costa Mesa, CA.
Tahiti Nui International will expand on our mission statement by producing the OC POLYFEST to showcase the best of Polynesian culture consisting of a Tahitian ‘Ori and Group Competition, Tongan Tauolunga, Samoan Taualuga, and Siva Afi Competition, Arts and Crafts Fair, Polynesian Fashion show and a Polynesian Tattoo convention. We will also be extending invitations to the best artisans, tattoo artist as well as cultural leaders participate in this year’s event. New for this year we are incorporating a Tahitian Master ‘Ori Solo competition (‘Arioi Division) in which 12 contestants (maximum 1 male and 1 female from each group) will have the opportunity to perform an Ote’a, Mehura and ‘Ori Tahito. The winner will receive a $1,000 cash award and a roundtrip ticket to Tahiti to represent Tahiti Nui International’s OC PolyFest at the World international ‘Ori Tahiti competition.
This year’s event will feature: seating for up to 1,500 guest, a large performance stage, state of the art sound and lighting, professional photographers and videographers, live vlogging, live streaming of the event, air conditioning, a new digital scoring system, beautiful decorations, and judge’s critique after the event. In an adjoining building we will house our Arts and Crafts festival along with a Polynesian Tattoo Convention. With a renewed and heavy focus on advertising including freeway billboards, production of a high-quality production, new categories, cultural workshops/lectures and a more informed communication platform we do expect to have a very well-attended event.
